I am such a massive fan of the Legend of Zelda franchise (except BotW), and Twilight Princess is one of, if not my favourite game in the series. It had a much darker and mature tone than most others and it presented arguably the best story in the franchise. However, one of the main reasons why I, and likely many others love it so much, is because of Midna.
When we first meet her, Link is in his beast form after crossing into the Twilight Realm. Midna is a mischievous character who’s motives are unknown to us at this time. We have no idea whether she really is a friend or foe, but we go along with her nonetheless. She takes us to visit Princess Zelda, who is a prisoner in her own castle, which is under the influence of Zant (the apparent villain) and the Twilight Realm itself. From this point, we set off on our journey to save the land from Zant and the Realm of Twilight.
Throughout our adventure, Midna proves a valuable ally, helping Link in a number of situations. However, she is also a witty, hilarious and a genuinely wanted companion, unlike a certain obnoxious, nuiscance of a fairy in the past. We gradually learn and uncover more and more about her character and backstory, making the player become invested in her narrative and relationship with Link. So much so, that there are some genuinely emotional and heart-wrenching moments later in the story.
Whenever, I think of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, I think of Midna, and I couldn’t imagine the game being the same without her. I’m still hoping that a port of the Twilight Princess remaster on the Wii U is made for the Switch soon. MAKE IT HAPPEN NINTENDO!!!

I can definitely say for me personally that, aside from Tatl in Majora’s Mask, Midna is my favourite ‘support’ character from any Zelda game. She’s got a great personality and her character arc is fantastic. It’s nice to see Twilight Princess get some love!

It seems to be a game that is a bit divisive among fans, but I loved its tone and dungeons.

Agreed. I know some people complained about the colour palette, but I would take Twilight Princess graphics over SS and BoTW any day honestly.

I don’t think folks give Twilight Princess gets the credit it deserves as far as the Legend of Zelda games go, and I’m right there with you waiting for it to show up on Switch! Midna definitely played a big part in making that installment stand out to me, I can still her cheeky laugh 😊
