It’s been over a month since 2020 came to an end, but I’ve still been finish few games from the year. I was going to do a ‘Top Ten Games of 2020’ list, which I will still do, but I also wanted to try doing a more traditional game awards post. This will let me shine light and recognise brilliant, individual aspects of games, particularly of those that don’t make it into my top ten of the year. So in this post I wanted to introduce the awards, including what the different categories will be, alongside all the 2020 games I’ve completed that will be eligible. Let’s get into it!
2020 Games I’ve Completed:
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- The Last of Us II
- Ghost of Tsushima
- Nexomon: Extinction
- Tell Me Why
- Astro’s Playroom
- Demon’s Souls
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
- Mafia: Definitive Edition
- Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition
- Marvel’s Avengers
- Resident Evil 3 Remake
- The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV
- Immortals: Fenyx Rising
- Pokemon Mystery Dungeon DX
- Maneater
- The Dark Pictures Anthology: Little Hope
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
The Categories:
- Game of the Year
- Nintendo Game of the Year
- PlayStation Game of the Year
- Xbox Game of the Year
- Best Narrative
- Best Music
- Best Visuals/Art Direction

- Best Performance
- Best RPG
- Best Action/Adventure

So there’s all the 2020 games that I’ve managed to complete, as well as the various categories they are competing in. I haven’t decided whether I’ll post each category/award as individual posts, or just put them all into a single article. Although I’m leaning towards the latter, mainly to avoid repetitive, explanation paragraphs for multiple wins. Let me know your thoughts down in the comments and what you predict will be my choices. If you follow me, then my GOTY might be quite obvious 🙂
Stay safe and stay tuned for more gaming posts like this one.

Wow impressive! I’m lucky if I finish 1 – 2 games in a month.

To be honest, it’s mainly because of finishing uni and still being in a pandemic, that I’ve been able to play as many games. I’ve never played this many new ones in a single year before 😅
