The Final Fantasy XIV Diaries #2

First things first, I hope everyone is doing okay. I thought today I’d provide a brief update on my adventures through Eorzea in Final Fantasy XIV. The game has taken a bit of backseat these past few weeks, as I have been busy with other releases, especially now with Tales of Arise and also managing to snag an Xbox Series X. It also didn’t help our internet was down for almost 3 days, and it was devastating! I know, first-world problems right?

Despite this, I’ve managed to make decent progress through the main missions since my initial post. So let’s get started.

One of the decisions I made is to focus on the main scenario quests. These are the best part of the game, where a lot of the side quests just aren’t particularly interesting. This way, it allows me to make progress on the great aspects, while leaving the countless side-quests for when I want experience for other classes/jobs later on. I’m really enjoying the story, especially as I get closer and closer to the end of the Realm Reborn arc.

I’ve had to uncover a deadly conspiracy involving a false inquisitor in the land of Coerthas. After a series of investigations, we proved the lies and face the imposter head-on. With this done, I was finally able to enter the Stone Vigil and find the downed airship, The Enterprise. Things are really starting to pick up the pace now and it’s great. I don’t know where the story is going to go next, but I can’t wait.

I am thoroughly invested in the Summoner job at the moment and have unlocked various abilities as a result. I will say that combat is getting more interesting, but also harder to efficiently execute with a controller. It can be a challenge to manage all the different abilities in a rotation effectively. Alternating between multiple hot-bars on the fly and in tough battles, is a bit messy now. It’s not reached the point of frustrating yet, but it does make combat more of an awkward hassle sometimes.

I have dabbled in a few other classes/jobs, such as the Botanist, Conjurer and Culinarian. I don’t think the gathering and crafting classes are gonna be for me, but I might give them a try later down the line. I did enjoy trying out another main class, but I think I’m going to stick with the Summoner for the time being. I just really like the style.

Anyway, that’s all from me today. I hope you enjoyed my little update. Now I’m going to go back to playing Tales of Arise, a likely game of the year contender for me. Have a great day!
